Tips

For a spicier chili, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a chopped jalapeño. To make this recipe vegetarian, substitute the ground beef with a plant-based alternative or additional beans.

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until the onion turns translucent.

Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned.

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 pound ground beef

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes

1 can (6 oz) tomato paste

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste
